Health & Safety Update – COVID-19 in Thailand (May 2025)

As of mid-May 2025, Thailand is experiencing a rise in COVID-19 cases, with over 33,000 new infections reported nationwide between May 11–17. Bangkok alone accounted for more than 6,000 cases, with most infections occurring among adults aged 30–39. The increase is attributed to new Omicron subvariants (including JN.1, LF.7, and NB.1.8), combined with waning immunity and increased domestic travel during the recent Songkran festival.

Thailand’s health authorities continue to emphasize the importance of:

  • Wearing face masks in crowded or enclosed spaces

  • Maintaining good hand hygiene

  • Ensuring vaccinations and booster doses are up to date, particularly for high-risk groups

Despite the current wave, Thailand remains fully open to travelers, and all tourism activities continue as normal.

At Inspiring Asia Travel, we maintain high hygiene standards across all operations and are pleased to provide face masks and hand sanitizers upon request for added peace of mind. We recommend all travelers include COVID-19 coverage in their travel insurance plan as a precaution.

Your health and safety remain our highest priority. We look forward to welcoming you to Southeast Asia with confidence and care.
